Big Projects to be aware of:
1. Reading-
Literature Circles meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays of the following weeks: 1/20, 1/27, 2/2, 2/9. Students have a require reading and an assignment to complete before each session. Literature Circle Packets are due 2/17-2/19 (depending on group meetings)
Book Talks are given daily and students signed up to share a book on the day of their choice 1/20-2/19.
Reading Response Journals are worked on at school and due on Thursdays. 6 total letters are due by the end of February.
Battle of the Books will begin 2/12
2. Writing-
An imaginative story piece is due on Thursday, January 29
We started an "Important People in the Gorge" research paper.
Research Note cards were due on 2/10.
Research Outline is due at the end of the day on 2/18.
Research Rough Draft is due at the end of the day on 2/19.
Research Final Draft is due at the end of the day on 2/23.
Students have continued to write from the perspective of a Native in their Gorge journals (two entries this trimester, so far!). Typed journal entries from the first trimester are due on 2/20.
3. Science-
Students are participating in a Simple Machines unit where they are responsible to learn formulas, vocabulary and participate in small experiments. They are given optional extra credit each day.
The Rube Goldberg Science Challenge begins 2/9-2/20---Please bring supplies by 1/29!
4. Gorge Studies-
Already students have been studying what it may have been like for Natives to interact with Non-Natives for the first time. They are learning about how those first interactions impacted the people and land.
5. Math-
As always, a lesson a day keeps the doctor away! :)
6. Art-
