The Year of the Tiger

Chinese New Year is the first day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This holiday usually takes place during January or February. The celebration begins with a special New Year's meal and parade that includes the Lion Dance and the Dragon Dance. The celebration lasts for 15 days, ending with the Lantern Festival. Our class is taking some time to learn about this Chinese celebration and some about the Chinese culture. We are also learning about some of the important plants and animals of China and making strong connections to what we have learned about the plants and animals of the Gorge.
