Photos from our (twice performed) Geology Rocks! play. Every student had a part and performed marvelously. Thank you to Aven's mom for taking pictures for us at our Geology Rocks! play.
Service Learning with ECO (Ecology Outdoors)
Students are learning more about the environment around our excellent school here in Corbett, Oregon. With ECO, we are transforming an area near the baseball fields into a beautiful outdoor learning space.
Gifts of the Gorge
To complete our study of the Gorge this school year, we are focusing on the "gifts" the Gorge presents us. We are blessed to have so many resources at our finger tips and it is imperative that we learn more about these resources and how to properly preserve them for future generations. Guest speakers have presented information on forestry, tourism, wind power, water and salmon. With our buddies, learned about and presented information on the resources. Gift boxes beautifully wrapped by Ethan's mom.
The Amazing Race
The race has finally ended. We explored seven continents learning a lot about the people, geography and culture of the land. As a final project, students complied their work into a "passport" to display the depth of their learning. Thank you to Aven's mom for passport photos!
Graphic Novel Update
The hard work paid off! Each student has a beautifully bound graphic novel that shares their theory of the formation of the Columbia River Gorge. Thank you to Ethan's mom and Jackson's mom for binding all of the novels. Thank you to Kelsey's mom for typing the students' theories. Thanks, again, Mally's mom for helping with the watercolor pencil art lessons.
Artist of the Week
First, we learned about Robert J. Lang and the art of Origami. Students practiced paper crane making. Then, we learned about Picaso and the styles surrealism and cubism. Most recently, Aidan's mom came in and taught us about Arcimboldo and creating collage portraits. Parents will enjoy seeing our finished artwork on Portfolio night. Thank you, Aidan's mom for joining us!
